Moscow, August 2. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the Russian President's envoy for Pridnestrovie Dmitry Rogozin.
The meeting which took place in the Russian capital on Wednesday afternoon was organized by Dmitry Rogozin. The main agenda issue was the future of the peacekeeping mission on the Dniester, the Presidential Press Office specifies.
In a conversation with the president of PMR, Dmitry Rogozin noted that it is the peacekeepers who deter the conflict. «That is why, in the current situation development of which we can see now, they try to hurt our military personnel who accurately and firmly maintain peace," the Russian President's envoy emphasized. Dmitry Rogozin offered Vadim Krasnoselsky to discuss how they can «enhance peacemaking and security of Pridnestrovie» in this situation.
Also, Vadim Krasnoselsky reminded that the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester was carried out by joint efforts: a main element — Russian contingent — and also the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan peacekeepers. According to him, the last decisions of the Moldovan constitutional court and parliament about the Russian military presence and the replacement of the peacekeeping format with a civil one are very dangerous. «All this has been taken up by the Moldovan officials. There is serious pressure upon the Russian peacekeepers. I see an intention to expel the Russian contingent from the territory of Pridnestrovie," Vadim Krasnoselsky noted. He emphasized that the leadership and the people of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic were consistent in their position, understood the importance of the Russian peacekeeping mission and realized that the peace for 25 years had been maintained exactly thanks to participation of the peacekeepers. Elimination of the peacekeeping element is a direct way to the conflict escalation, the Pridnestrovian President considers.
For active participation in restoration of peace on the Pridnestrovian land, the Pridnestrovian president awarded an anniversary medal '25 Years of Peacekeeping Operation in Pridnestrovie' to Dmitry Rogozin. The Russian diplomat expressed a regret that he hadn't been able to participate in the festive events and emphasized at the same time that he had heard a lot about the celebration. Vadim Krasnoselsky confirmed that anniversary had been massively celebrated in Pridnestrovie and highlighted a fact that the Moldovan military personnel hadn't taken part in it.
Dmitry Rogozin offered to continue the discussion about the status of the peacekeeping mission in Pridnestrovie in private.
Besides the situation around the Russian peacekeeping operation, the sides discussed the issues concerning the social and economic support of Pridnestrovie by the Russian Federation. «In this situation, we will have to negotiate an issue concerning the economic support in details, some measures aimed to prevent the provocative isolation actions against Pridnestrovie," the Russian deputy PM emphasized.
