State Duma urges Ukraine and Moldova to renounce all forms of pressure on Pridnestrovie

The house has adopted a corresponding statement

Tiraspol, 7 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The plenary meeting of Russia's State Duma has considered today a draft declaration on the situation around the PMR. The document says, in particular, about increased pressure by Moldova and Ukraine in the form of a joint border and customs post established at the PMR's border without Tiraspol's consent.

«This is contrary to the commitment made to prohibit any action aimed at restricting the freedom of economic activity of entrepreneurs and individuals in the region, any steps that might aggravate the situation of each conflicting party, as well as attempts to impose a blockade on Pridnestrovie," note MPs.

Legislators emphasise Kishinev and Kiev's desire to prevent the normal functioning of a peacekeeping operation in Pridnestrovie. In their view, the current situation «poses a real threat to the regional stability, the well-being and security of Pridnestrovian citizens, including 200,000 Russian citizens, which is a matter of deep concern to the State Duma.»

«The State Duma urges the Government of Moldova and the Ukrainian authorities to renounce any forms of pressure on Pridnestrovie, including actions to organise its blockade," underscores the statement.

MPs claim there is no alternative to a peacekeeping operation in Pridnestrovie and condemn any unilateral calls for its cessation, as well as any action against the stable work of the Joint Control Commission. The State Duma also insists on the early conduct of the next round of talks on the platform of the «Permanent conference…» in the «5+2» format and considers that any other formats are invalid.
