Pridnestrovian fighters win silver and bronze medals in Lithuania's WAKO kickboxing tournament

The open championship involved 267 fighters, most of whom represented CIS countries

Tiraspol, 27 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovian fighters from SC Academy of Kickboxing took prizes in an international WAKO kickboxing tournament.

According to the Sports Agency, the tournament was held in Lithuania from 16 to 20 February with the participation of 267 kickboxers from Baltic states, Poland, England, Guinea, Belarus, Russia, Moldova and Pridnestrovie. The Lithuanian tournament is a preparatory stage for the upcoming WAKO World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria, scheduled for April.

Pridnestrovie's Yury Tyryaev won a silver medal in the junior 57 kg (U-15). He beat his opponents from Poland and Latvia but lost in the final to a Lithuanian. Tyuryaev also took part in the K-1 competition, in which he became a runner-up as well.

Alexander Mitskovich (U-18), another fighter from Pridnestrovie, knocked out a Lithianian boxer in his first fight. In a semi-final, however, he lost to a Pole 2:1 and won a bronze in the K-1 75 kg.

Nikita Levushkin participated in the K-1 U-40 57 kg. In a semi-final, he faced the famous Belarusan boxer Dmitry Razumkov, a multiple winner and prizetaker of world championships and cups. Razumkov beat Levushkin 2:1, leaving him a bronze medal.
