Sergey Obolonik: small and medium businesses must be able to gain access to export markets

According to the minister of economic development, the government intends to reduce the tax burden on business, develop exports and maintain consumer demand

Tiraspol, 6 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Ministry of economic development continues working on an entrepreneurship support programme. It will focus on three strategic objectives: reduction of administrative and tax burden, consumer demand support and export development. The minister of economic development, Sergey Obolonik, told journalists about plans to improve the business climate in the country.

According to him, the programme is being elaborated by a working group comprising representatives of government agencies and the business community.

The government and parliament began to simplify the administrative control over business back in 2016.

«We have already changed the price of a small business patent, introduced the categories 'micro-enterprise', 'small' and 'medium' enterprise for the tax burden to be consistent with an entrepreneur's income level," said Obolonik.

The ministry is also considering simplifying the mechanism of starting «own business».

«The procedure will be simplified. It is possible to implement a 'single window' mechanism for launching a business. Anyone who wants to develop his entrepreneurial talents must have an access point which will provide all the necessary conditions for the realisation of his ideas," noted the minister.

According to him, the government will create conditions «which will enable businessmen to make a step forward, provide a stable base for their development.» An important prerequisite for it, Obolonik underscores, is the improvement of the dynamics of domestic demand.

«The development in this sector is most essential. It is important to raise income so that people were interested in as many spheres of life as possible," he believes, adding that «this will create a natural circulation of money» in various sectors of the economy.

Besides, Oblonik noted, the government is continuing to encourage exports and ensure preferential entry to the Russian market.

«Our biggest enterprises should work efficiently, providing inflows of foreign currency and resources to the country through salaries and investment projects," he said.

«Small and medium businesses must also be able to gain access to export markets, find their customers outside Pridnestrovie. We are facing a task to ensure the most optimal ways," the minister also notes.

There are already certain results in this sphere. Earlier agreements with the Russian Federation, as well as the outcome of the governmental delegation's recent visit to Moscow, give cause for optimism.

In the meantime, the minister prefers to refrain from making forecasts, only noting that the improvement of the business environment is a priority for the government.

«We are not making a forecast; we are drawing up a programme that must result in changing the welfare of the population," concluded Obolonik.
