Tiraspol, 23 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. There has been nearly no political interaction between Moldova and Pridnestrovie in the past years, but now good opportunities for negotiations are opening up. This was declared during the Right to Know! show on TV Centre by the chairman of Russia's Federation Council committee for information policy, Aleksey Pushkov.
According to the Russian politician, in order to continue the negotiations, it is necessary, first of all, "to lower the level of tension between these territories."
"Now new negotiation opportunities are opening up for Tiraspol and Kishinev. There have been no negotiations for a long time. Both Igor Dodon's visit to Moscow and his talks with Krasnoselsky, it seems to me, are pointing in this direction. The situation will be normalising in terms of mutual relations between Moldova and the PMR. Moldova made a lot of attempts to place Pridnestrovie in a difficult economic situation through customs, tariffs, all sorts of restrictions," said Aleksey Pushkov.
Speaking about whether it would be possible to reach a political settlement of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian conflict – President Dodon claimed he would solve this issue in the following two or three years – the Russian politician noted it would depend on many factors.
"If they [Moldova and Pridnestrovie] establish co-existence on this territory, with Pridnestrovie living, of course, on its own, this will be significant progress. But I am absolutely convinced the issue will not be resolved in 2017," underscored Pushkov.
Aleksey Pushkov is a Russian statesman and public figure. He was a member of the 7th State Duma and is currently the chairman of the Federation Council committee for information policy.
Besides, he is a political scientist, a professor at MGIMO.
Pushkov is also a journalist, the author and presenter of the Postscript show on TV Centre.
