Tiraspol, 4 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky has discussed with Moldovan President Igor Dodon a solution to the problem of the Moldovan operator Orange and Pridnestrovie's Interdnestrcom using the same mobile network frequencies.
According to Krasnoselsky, employing the same frequencies causes interference in the work of both operators and may considerably complicate their cooperation, leading to a repeat of the 2003 situation.
«Back then, there was not a war, but certain tensions in relations between the two operators. Mutual interference was created. This naturally affected the quality of people's living standards, the quality of communication services," said Vadim Krasnoselsky during a press conference on the results of his meeting with the Moldovan colleague.
As we have informed, on 30 December 2016 Interdenstrcom issued the company's announcement saying that «despite the proposed agreements the Moldovan mobile network operator Orange has recently launched an LTE network at the frequencies employed by IDC for providing communication services since 2012.»
In this regard, IDC's management warned their clients about the possibility of low-quality LTE coverage near the border with the Republic of Moldova.
According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, these frequencies have been granted to Orange by the Moldovan authorities following a contest to which the Pridnestrovian operator had not been invited.
In 2003, the Moldovan state-run company Radiocommunications launched a TV transmitter in Causeni at the frequency employed by Interdnestrcom, thus virtually paralysing mobile communications in Pridnestrovie.
