One third of businessmen declare goods via Internet

Electronic declaration of goods was introduced by the SCC in late 2011

Tiraspol, 17 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. One third of businessmen prefer to declare goods on their own via the Internet. In the past five years 10% of the total number of declarations have been drawn up through the electronic system, according to the statistics of the State Customs Committee (SCC).

Electronic declaration of goods was introduced by the SCC in late 2011. It was expected to facilitate customs procedures for small businesses. The average time of declaring in 2016 has been seven minutes.

According to customs statistics, 9% of the total turnover of Pridnestrovie accounts for individual businessmen. A large portion of small businesses is engaged in trade. The lion's share of their imports passes customs control and clearance under a simplified procedure — directly at customs checkpoints.

The electronic technology allows businessmen to draw up a declaration beforehand (at home, at the border, on the way) on the Internet and send it to a customs body. The system also allows them to calculate customs payments, identify a product code by name, as well as receive notification of certification, phytosanitary and veterinary control.
