Tiraspol, 12 October. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Prospects for the development of the country's melioration complex were discussed at the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The issue was raised during a meeting with the Russian colleagues who visited the ministry — deputy head of the melioration department of Russia's agriculture ministry Igor Yanov and director of the Raduga research institute Gennady Olgarenko.
The minister of agriculture and natural resources, Svetlana Timotina, recalled that in the summer of 2014 the agricultural ministries of Russia and Pridnestrovie had signed a cooperation memorandum. One of the areas of cooperation involved the restoration of the country's melioration complex.
«Over the past two years serious work has been conducted on this issue. Russian colleagues visited our republic, examined the situation in the field of melioration in Pridnestrovie. In particular, an investment programme has been drafted with the assistance of the specialists of Russia's Raduga research institute, which directly supervises this problem," said Svetlana Timotina.
«The amount of works to be done has been estimated," said Igor Yanov.
The corresponding programme has been adopted and approved by the Pridnestrovian agricultural ministry, the minister clarified. In the framework of document implementation, it is supposed to restore and reconstruct the country's irrigation system in the area of over 26,000 ha.
«The Russian Federation has already allocated the funds. Currently, we are preparing for the conclusion of a contract for the restoration of a melioration complex in the area of over 6,000 ha," said Svetlana Timotina.
During today's meeting the sides elaborated the paragraphs of the technical assignment and discussed a working draft of the corresponding agreement.
«Next week the contract will be concluded between the relevant authorities," said the minister.
