Dmitry Palamarchuk: Kishinev's reaction to the decree 'On the implementation of the results of the republican referendum of 2006' is surprising

Pridnestrovie's deputy foreign minister has given an interview to Russia's Govorit Moskva radio station

Tiraspol, 9 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In an interview with Russia's Govorit Moskva [This is Moscow] radio station, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Dmitry Palamarchuk commented on Kishinev's reaction to the presidential decree «On the implementation of the results of the republican referendum of 2006».

«We have studied the first, rather nervous reactions from Kishinev, but it seems to me these reactions are prearranged, and they every time surprise me. On the one hand our Moldovan colleagues do not recognise Pridnestrovian legislation, and on the other hand they do not want it to resemble Russian laws. There arises a discord. I don't think this decree will radically affect the ongoing negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova," said Dmitry Palamarchuk.

According to him, the presidential decree «On the implementation of the results of the republican referendum of 2006» is aimed at solving tasks related to the harmonisation of Pridnestrovian and Russian laws.

«The decree stipulates specific tasks related to how we can bring together our legislation and Russian laws. I hope this decree will make this work more consistent," noted the deputy minister.

Dmitry Palamarchuk also underscored that the policy of Pridnesctrovie's rapprochement with Russia is espoused by all political forces in the republic.

«The task is clearly outlined by the people's will democratically expressed at the referendum, where 97% voted in favour of the republic's independence and its subsequent accession to Russia. This spring we held complex public opinion polls, and the population unambiguously confirmed the choice they had made at the referendum. This policy totally corresponds with the people's will and is shared by all political forces in the republic," said Palamarchuk.

On 7 September President Yevgeny Shevchuk signed the decree «On the implementation of the results of the republican referendum that took place on 7 September 2006». This document particularly defines bringing Pridnestrovie's legal system into a line with the federal legislation of the Russian federation as the fundamental principle of the PMR's domestic policy. It is proposed to that effect to establish a State Commission, which would include representatives of executive and legislative bodies, as well as judicial community.

97.2% of voters who participated in the 2006 referendum voted for the independence of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and its subsequent accession to the Russian Federation.
