Tiraspol, 6 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia's presidential envoy on Pridnestrovie, Vice Premier Dmitry Rogozin and Pridnestrovian President Yevgeny Shevchuk agreed to launch a programme for the development of relations between Pridnestrovie and Russian regions.
According to Dmitry Rogozin, the programme will include from six to ten regions, which are of special concern for Pridnestrovie. «These are regions producing agricultural equipment, the regions having big university centres, capable of training specialists for Pridnestrovie," said the vice premier during the briefing.
Dmitriy Rogozin added that mutual ties were more efficient when established between the regions comparable in size, status and ambitions; therefore, Pridnestrovie would have fewer problems working with Russian regions rather than with the federal government.
Nevertheless, the issue of establishing relations between Tiraspol and Russian regions will be under federal control, according to Rogozin. The programme is supposed to be launched after Yevgeny Shevchuk draws up a number of corresponding requests to heads of Russia's federal subjects.
Last month a twinning agreement was signed between Tiraspol and Novosibirsk. However, according to Dmitriy Rogozin, Pridnestrovie has to cooperate more closely with Russian regions.
