Tiraspol, 1 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. On 1 July 1995 the Operational Group of Russian Forces (OGRF) in Pridnestrovie was formed on the basis of Russia's 14th Army. Representatives of the clergy, union of Afghan war veterans and defenders of Pridnestrovie.
For many Pridnestrovians, Russian officers, sergeants and soldiers embody the image of the Russian warrior who can always protect and come to rescue, as it already happened in 1992.
«We had a war in 1992, and, of course, Russia responded to our misfortune and sent a contingent here to protect this land against every sort of aggression on the part of the then Moldovan leadership. As of today, you have successfully fulfilled this task and Pridnestrovian people hope you will continue fulfilling it," said a participant of Pridnestrovie’s independence war, a 14th Army veteran, Igor Dudkevich.
«May the peacekeeping mission and peace remain in this prosperous land; may guns not thunder assault rifles may not shoot — this depends on everyone in the ranks," said the OGRF chief, Dmitry Zelenkov.
After the meeting, the best OGRF servicemen were decorated.
The main wish to each soldier today was that he will have to use his professional skills only during military drills.
