Elektromash ready to enter new coal mining industry niche

The plant presented a new motor designed for mines at an international mining exposition "Russia's Coal Mining"

Tiraspol, 8 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie's machine-building enterprise Elektromash is ready to enter a new niche in the coal mining industry, Eletromash's CEO Vladimir Trandasir told Novosti Pridnestrovya.

The plant together with its official Russian representative OOO Elektrodvigatel NK is currently taking part in the 23rd International Specialised Mining Equipment Exhibition in Novokuznetsk. The plant has presented an electric motor belonging to a new series which was developed and included in catalogues in late 2015.

According to Valdimir Trandasir, the ВАО7А 250LA-4 low-voltage explosion-proof motor, as well as other motors in the series, have been specially designed for the coal mining industry, but can be also employed in the gas and oil industry. Such electric motors are capable of setting in motion conveyors and coal elevators, mine pumps and big industrial fans.

Elektromash has already produced a few small lots of new-series motors, but in case of a large order the plant is ready to launch the mass production of this range of goods.

«This new motor is specially designed for coal miners. We have just introduced them into production, certified them, and have already shipped a small batch. Now we want to get a foothold in this niche," noted Vladimir Trandasir.

According to the CEO, the plant plans to supply its products exactly to Kuzbass, Russia's largest coal field.

«Industry modernisation is under way there [in Kuzbass]. There are a lot of safety issues. And this motor is supposed to replace old machines. It is safer," said Vladimir Trandasir.

Another advantage of the new series is that it includes not only 380 V and 660 V motors, as those installed in Kuzbass mines, but also machines operating on 1,140 V, hence more powerful.

Elektromash is one of the biggest manufacturer of alternating current machines available in explosion and general purpose industrial versions. The plant produces machines designed for coal mining, chemical, oil, gas, mining and metallurgical industries.
