Rybnitsa, 6 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Since 21 May scheduled repair works had been conducted in the arc-furnace shop. The furnace was launched in a routine mode.
The plant is planning to increase its output this month to 500 heats a day.
«The furnace metalwork, electric and power equipment have been repaired. The whole package of repair works has been performed: not only has the furnace been repaired, but also the ladle furnace, teaming and crane equipment," said the chief of MMZ's repairs department, Sergey Kornev.
5,500 tonnes of rolled metal has already been produced in June, although the shop stopped to change oil. Now that the furnace works, the plant is planning to increase gradually the volume of production.
«The furnace has been launched in a normal mode today. I think that after using refractories, we'll make 70−80 more heats to cover the refractories' net cost. Later on, we'll accumulate more metal scrap and will increase the output to 500 heats depending on the furnace's state," said the acting CEO, Alexander Boshtanar.
With 37,000 tonnes of steel and 28,000 tonnes of rolled metal produced in May, the plant showed good results under existing circumstances. The plant shipped 24,000 tonnes of finished products. This is despite the fact that MMZ's business reputation, according to its CEO, suffered from statements made by some MPs and circulated in private media outlets.
«Our contractors, partners felt discomfort after learning the information leaked to the mass media. But today everything is getting right, all our relations are. Metal-Feros is confidently supplying metal scrap to MMZ; suppliers of refractories have supplied more refractory sets to further secure the work of furnace," underscored Alexander Boshtanar.
Besides the furnace, the scheduled repair works will be soon performed in the section-rolling shop.
