Tiraspol, 10 February.  /Novosti Pridnestrovya/.  According to a deputy foreign minister, Igor Shornikov, Pridnestrovie's image as part of the Russian world is an important component of the country's security. This statement the deputy minister made at a board meeting of the MFA dedicated to the Day of the Diplomatic Worker.

"Pridnestrovie's image as part of the Russian world, the presence of Pridnestrovie-related topics in Russia's information and media space, as well as socio-political, scientific and cultural ties between Pridnestrovie and the Russian Federation are an important element of our country's security," noted the diplomat.

Igor Shornikov stated that while the policy for EU integration had led Pridnestrovian neighbours to permanent political instability and economic degradation, cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Russia was especially important.

"Amid international turbulence, Pridnestrovie needs a shoulder of a strong ally in the person of the great power. I believe one of the main achievements of the MFA in the recent years has been acquiring a reliable partner in the person of the Russian Federation which is ready to invest in the regional security and develop human capital in Pridnestrovie," said the deputy minister.

According to Igor Shprnikov, if a number of subjective and objective factors are hampering the intensification of economic cooperation between Russia and Pridnestrovie today, there is still great potential for cooperation between the two countries in cultural, humanitarian and information spheres.

The diplomat reminded the audience that last year about one thousand Pridnestrovian war veterans had received assistance from the Russian embassy and the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie. Pridnestrovian veterans had also taken part in the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory in WWII that took place in Russia, Belarus, France.

A book about Pridnestrovie was published in 2015 as well. "This is rather a small book by a Russian expert, international lawyer, Alexander Sergeyev – 'Pridnestrovie today ‒ problems and prospects'," said Igor Shornikov, adding that it was the first book about the PMR published abroad. "The book was written at the initiative of the Eurasian Pridnestrovie media centre and published by the Russian Institute for Political Studies."

The diplomat noted that last year the two states continued cooperation in the sphere of youth policy: a number of Pridnestrovian delegations visited different Russian youth forums.
