Supreme Council approves Pavel Prokudin's appointment as chairman of govenment

Tiraspol, 23 Nvovember. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/.  Today, the first session of the 6th Supreme Council took place. Among the issues to be considered at the first plenary session was the approval of Pavel Procudin, nominated by President Shevchuk, as chairman of government. The president personally presented the candidate during the session.

Then the floor was given to Pavel Prokudin. Among the main targets of the government he mentioned the absolute fulfilment of socio-economic obligations. He particularly highlighted the need to find sources to cover social payments. He also called all branches of power for a dialogue and joint elaboration of anti-crisis measures.

"An anti-crisis package must be approved next January. The enhancement of medical services and education sector is also among priorities. The government should deal with the development of agriculture, paying special attention to irrigation," Pavel Prokudin presented his vision of the government's forthcoming work.

After his speech the candidate for the premier's post answered MPs' questions.

The candidacy of the new prime minister was unanimously approved by the Supreme Council by open ballot.

It is recalled that the government was dismissed as its previous chair, Tatyana Turanskaya, was elected an MP. On 29 November 2015, Pridnestrovie had for the first time a single day of voting, when MPs, local councillors and heads of village (settlement) administrations were elected.

Pavel Prokudin, 49, is a graduate of Odessa Sea School of Engineers. He started his professional activity in 1988 at Soviet Danube Sea Company. He also worked for various commercial organisations. Up to this day he has been the CEO of Luceafar Souvenir Factory JSC and director of Historical Military-Memorial Complex Bendery Fortress.
