Offshore duties bring 1.68 million roubles to national budget

The special duty has been paid by 14 economic agents from Pridnestrovie

According to the State Customs Committee (SCC), as of 29 October 2015 offshore duties have brought 1.68 million roubles to the country's budget.

The special duty has been paid by the 14 economic agents from Pridnestrovie having business relations with five countries included in the list of offshore zones. These are the USA, Switzerland, Marshall Islands, Great Britain, Panama. Among bargain items are gas-oil and petroleum, electrical appliances, consumer's goods, frozen fish, etc.

The SCC notes that the so-called offshore special duty is collected by all customs offices. However, the largest amount of payments accounts for the Rybnitsa customs office (over 685,000 roubles).

In order to protect the national economy and increase tax revenues, the Pridnestrovian government has issued the decree «On introduction of special customs duties». According to it, from 10 October on customs authorities levy the offshore duty in an amount of 10 per cent of the customs value of the goods that are subject to foreign economic transactions in which one side of the contract is registered in the state or areas providing tax benefits.

Offshore duty revenues are accumulated in the stabilising fund and are further allocated for the payment of salaries and pensions.
