Today over a hundred members of the Ukrainian battalion Azov and other radical organisations, in particular the Union of Ukraine's Pridnestrovians, have attempted to block the road near the Kuchurgan checkpoint. The action lasted for two hours.
According to the Committee for State Security (KGB), the radicals' provocation has not succeeded — the traffic has not been stopped.
«Both transport and passengers have not had any difficulty today in crossing the Ukrainian border. There have been no complaints," the head of the KGB press office, Alexander Dornya, commented on the situation.
The action was announced beforehand, promising to block the road exclusively for motor cars registered in Pridnestrovie. Thus the radicals decided to support another Ukrainian organisation — the Majlis of the Crimean Tatars — which together with Right Sector has announced a food blockade of Crimea. In their turn, the Crimean authorities argue that the blockade will do no harm to the population as almost all food products are supplied by Russian manufacturers.
