Pridnestrovie considers that it is impossible to withdraw Russian troops from Security Zone until the conflict to be resolved completely

The JCC cochairman from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov alerts about the possible risks concerning the renewal of hostilities in case of Russian peacekeeping contingent replacement with the international military, police or civil missions

The Pridnestrovie's side considers it extremely dangerous that Moldova often misbalances and disrupts the mechanisms of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester and diminishes the role of the Russian Federation in it these days. According to the cochairman of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov, certain political actors in Moldova want to solve an issue of Moldova's reintegration by replacement of the peacekeeping operation with the international military, police or civil mission.

«Current peacekeeping operation format objectively ruins their plan due to the active participation of Russia," Oleg Belyakov noted in his interview to our agency.

The analysis of the situation in the Security Zone, according to Belyakov, shows possible escalation of tension between the sides even up to the armed conflict renewal in case of the peacekeeping operation format change and introduction of the international peacekeeping units under the EU or OSCE auspices in the conflict zone.

«Until the mutually acceptable conclusion of the negotiation process on peaceful conflict settlement won't be reached, any Moldova's demands concerning the OGRF (Operational Group of the Russian Forces — editor's note) withdrawal from Pridnestrovie and replacement of the Russian peacekeeping forces with the international police contingent including the NATO representatives are inadmissible at all," the JCC cochairman from Pridnestrovie considers.

Oleg Belyakov reminded about the events of June, 1992 when, after the first shots, the international observers providing peace in Bendery immediately left the city attacked by Moldova's armed groups.

«Russian peacekeepers ceased all military clashes between sides just right after their appearance in the conflict zone and disarmed any armed groups irrespective of their belonging if they weren't approved by the JCC," he summarized.
