They were detained on 23 June near the village of Nezavertaylovka, Slobodzeya district, by KGB operatives when trying to illegally move the cargo bypassing official checkpoints.
The barrels of spirits that the detainees tried to smuggle in the car into Ukraine were discovered during the search. The total volume of the cargo amounted to nearly 2,500 litres to the sum of about 40,000 roubles, the KGB press service reports.
Presently, the vehicle and the cargo of spirits are impounded, and the smugglers are under primary investigation.
