Russian experts: necessary to prepare for establishing air bridge between Pridnestrovie and Russia

In the Right to Speak chat show on Russia's TVC channel experts discussed the situation in Pridnestrovie. The general opinion among show guests was that Pridnestrovie is practically under blockade now. According to them, in such circumstances Russia cannot remain on the sidelines. However, the absence of the common border with Pridnestrovie is a serious obstacle to providing all-round support.

In this regard Sergey Stankevich, an expert in the Anatoliy Sobchak Foundation, believes that it is necessary to put the Tiraspol airfield in order and prepare to establish an air bridge. In order to exclude a possible threat for the Russian transport aviation from Ukraine's anti-aircraft defence, the expert proposes to decide an air bridge issue with Moldova and Romania through the mediation of the EU.

The director of the International Institute of the Newly Established States, Aleksey Martynov, agreed with this point of view and noted that the Tiraspol airfield is in perfect state. According to him, the working navigational equipment has been preserved there, and the airstrip is in ideal state.

The issue relating to an air corridor between Russia and Pridnestrovie is becoming increasingly important as Ukraine has denounced the agreement on transit of cargoes for the Russian troops in Pridnestrovie Today, as already reported, the Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko, has signed the corresponding law.
