CORROBORATED BY DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE: MOLDOVA WILL NOT INCREASE THE POLICE OFFICERS` NUMBER IN THE SECURITY ZONE

Moldovan delegation to the JCC issued relevant statement

Bendery, February, 21. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Moldova does not intend to increase the number of police officers in the Security Zone. A statement was received by the Joint Control Commission today.

“The delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the JCC confirms its statement that the rule of law during the election campaign and on election day will be only ensured by the forces of the territorial units of the General Police Inspectorate deployed in the Security Zone” - the document says.

Earlier, representatives of Tiraspol issued a statement in which they expressed concern over the alleged introduction of additional forces and means of the Republic of Moldova into the Security Zone to ensure the protection of public order during the elections on February 24. The Pridnestrovian delegation in the JCC called upon Moldovan colleagues to refrain from actions that could destabilize the situation in the Security Zone.

According to Oleg Belyakov, the JCC co-chair from Pridnestrovie, this decision of the Moldovan delegation is an indication that the parties can find points of contact and solve the most acute and controversial issues.
