Tiraspol, 25 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The 14th French Song Festival Francophonie 2016, organised by the Alliance Francaise, French embassy to Moldova and the department of Romance and Germanic philology, has finished in Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University.
Traditionally, students of the philology department took part in the annual festival. Every contender tried to charm the jury not only with the knowledge of French and vocal gifts, but also with a stage image.
This year the contest jury included the French ambassador to Moldova, Pascal Vagogne, the director of Moldova's Alliance Francaise, Emmanuel Skoulios, a deputy director of the Alliance Francaise, Adrian Cibotaru, a linguistic adviser of the Alliance, Eloïse Roussel, a member of an audit company, Richard Pirain and French duo Christoph Cuic and Diego Ramires.
In his opening speech Pascal Vagogne noted that this year more than thousand Frankophonie events take place, and more than 200 of them in Moldova and Pridnestrovie. And the French Song Contest in Tiraspol remains one of major events. More than 300 students, pupils and teachers have already taken part in it.
More than 20 of them have already been to France, winning the festival. This year a trip to France was the contest's main prize again. However, the French guests made a great surprise by offering three trips instead of four.
Former Feancophonie winners opened the contest with a traditional song.
According to the PSU's press office, the first place was taken by a philology department student Dmitry Bodnar. The second prize went to a student of the department of arts, Angelina De Guida. A student of Tiraspol Humanitarian Mathematics Gymnasium No.6, Yulia Tertilova, became the third. The fourth trip was granted to a multiple winner of the contest, Yelena Torgovtseva, from Kamenka.
Every participant was awarded a diploma.
The French ambassador also met the rector of PSU, Galina Sandutsa.
Pascal Vagogne expressed gratitude for a warm reception and highlighted the importance of such events for his country, which are designed to popularise the French culture, traditions and language and develop good-neighbourly relations with different countries.
Galina Sandutsa thanked the ambassador for the visit and attention he pays to Pridnestrovian State University.
