Tiraspol, November 19. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. During a briefing for mass media, the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister noted commenting on the issue concerning joint customs control of Moldova and Ukraine on the Pridnestrovie's border that throughout negotiation process the Pridnestrovie's side had repeatedly faced the situations when unilateral decisions in different areas had been a stumbling block and created threat to the dialogue.
«Sooner or later they were either canceled or a moratorium on their implementation was introduced. A recent example is that the moratorium on Moldova’s unilateral step concerning the restriction of movement freedom of Pridnestrovian vehicles across the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. We believe that at this stage there is still time that Moldova and Ukraine to cancel their decision. One way or another, the necessary steps will eventually have to be taken in order not to aggravate the situation. I think, no one is interested in an escalation of tensions, so we hope for thoughtful, rational and pragmatic position of guarantors, mediators and observers on this sensitive issue. We are ready for dialogue at any level: expert groups, political representatives — in order to ensure that the cancellation of this decision to be the end result," - Vitaly Ignatyev emphasized.
The head of the Foreign Ministry reminded, when the first signals about the decision scripted by Moldova and Ukraine were received from operational sources, the Pridnestrovian side officially stated, including at the level of the political representatives, about the inadmissibility and unacceptability of that step for Pridnestrovie. All negotiation participants know about the Pridnestrovie's stand on this critical issue, everybody knows that it can result in extremely negative consequences, and it contradicts the purposes and objectives of the negotiation process," - the diplomat noted.
Vitaly Ignatyev commented on the statement made by the head of the Moldovan Border Police Department Dorin Puriche that who said that the implementation of joint customs control would be the embodiment of some Moldovan «dream” and the hopes which the RM had cherished since 1997. «That's why, we have no illusions about the beneficiaries of this decision and who really holds interest in the implementation of total control," - the minister declared.
