KGB suppresses organised crime group activities

This September the Committee for State Security (KGB) received operational information on the organised group acting in Pridnestrovie's territory and engaged in various types of crimes

According to the KGB press service, the gang was guided from the territory of Moldova.

At the investigative stage, a number of gang members were identified. Pretending to be KGB officers, they extorted money by means of fraudulent actions from a Tiraspol businessman for the termination of non-existent criminal prosecution against him.

Despite good organisation of the crime group, methods of conspiracy and ways of avoiding surveillance they employed, the KGB officers have successfully carried on the complex of investigations in order to fix and document the criminal activities of this group.

Based on the gathered information, KGB operatives detained those persons red-handed. Considering the gangsters could be armed, the KGB special unit was involved in the operation.
During the detention one of criminals offered resistance to the KGB officers and tried to flee away by creating an accident-prone situation; however, thanks to professional actions of the operatives, he was overpowered.

Pridnestrovie's Investigation Committee initiated criminal prosecution against them based on the body of the crime stipulated in Article 155 "Fraud" of the Penal Code of the PMR.
