President of the PMR: Moldova is aiming for Europe, yet violates European values

The forced collection of customs duties from Pridnestrovian enterprises is a violation of the right to entrepreneurial activity, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted

Tiraspol, January 5. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The forced collection of duties from Pridnestrovian economic entities is not European values, it is a violation of human rights, the right to business and entrepreneurial activity. The President of the PMR, Vadim Krasnoselsky, stated this in his address to the leadership of the neighboring state.

Commenting on the introduction of customs duties for Pridnestrovian economic units, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that Europe always declared human values: human rights, the right to freedom, the right to entrepreneurship.

“It was Europe that granted Pridnestrovie the right, through the DCFTA program, to conduct foreign economic activity with the European Union, and we thank them for this. And what did you do? You did everything to put a spoke in the wheels with this decision. It is you who do not open bank accounts for our enterprises that are registered in Moldova. It is you who paralyze the banking system”, - the head of state emphasized.

Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that that unilateral decision had no legal basis.

“When we ask you to give an algorithm, a formula, there is zero reaction. While all your refusals are not even written, but verbal, referring to some higher authorities: you should negotiate there, and we will then register your enterprise. This is a bluff, a deception. It is you who violate all European values”, - the President noted.

Let us remind you that in January of this year, Moldova began to compulsorily collect customs duties on goods imported by business entities of Pridnestrovie. For them, this means paying double payments: to the budget of Pridnestrovie and to the budget of Moldova. No substantive explanations were received from the political representative of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie noted.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the introduction of duties “does not and cannot have any legitimate basis either within the framework of existing agreements or in the context of the notorious pan-European norms and principles”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the international participants in the negotiation process on this matter.
