Tiraspol, October, 8. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, after long debates, the delegations represented in the Joint Control Commission (JCC) decided to postpone the next meeting.
According to the Co-Chairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie, Oleg Belyakov, the agenda was not approved due to the Moldova Republic representatives` insistence upon submitting for consideration an issue that is not within the competence of the body. We are talking about the detention of Moldovan law enforcement officers in the Kamenka District, who, by the way, were released from custody after a dialogue between the Presidents of the PMR and the RM.
Oleg Belyakov drew attention to the fact that that problem directly concerned the activities of law enforcement agencies and should be resolved on the basis of the adopted documents on cooperation in the law-enforcement.
“Imagine if the JCC interferes with the work of judges, investigative actions, administrative and economic activities. What will come of this? - the Co-Chairman of the JCC from the PMR asks. “Someone wants to deliberately politicize the situation and create conditions under which the JCC will be non-functional and will not be able to fulfill its direct responsibilities to preserve world peace.”
As an example of the peacekeeping operation involvement in political processes, Oleg Belyakov cited the recent statement of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Moldova Republic, Christina Lesnik, that certain functions in the Security Zone are assigned to the JCC during the elections.
“Peacekeeping entities should not and will not participate in political processes,” Oleg Belyakov concluded.
