Tiraspol, January 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The blockade measures of Moldova are directed against every Pridnestrovian. This was stated today by deputies of the PMR Supreme Council who took part in the protest rally that took place in Tiraspol.
“We, Pridnestrovians, have stood up and want to tell the whole world that the actions that the Republic of Moldova is carrying out towards Pridnestrovie are genocide of Pridnestrovie, this is strangulation, this is an economic blockade,” emphasized Vadim Kravchuk, deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR. “I hope and am confident that they will hear us and allow Pridnestrovians to live according to the values that our peaceful Pridnestrovian people proclaimed.”
Deputy of the Supreme Council Andrei Safonov noted that the situation is now much more complicated than before, and the importance of the opinion that Pridnestrovians express publically has grown many times over.
“The decision to hold the rally is absolutely correct,” the deputy emphasized. - They are afraid of any publicity. I believe that our protest action draws attention to their lawlessness.”
Deputy of the Supreme Council Oleg Vasilatiy noted that the current situation has two aspects - economic and political.
“We live, to say the least, not very richly,” the deputy said, touching on the economic aspect of the situation. - And every penny for the Pridnestrovian budget, for every Pridnestrovian enterprise, is a serious resource. In essence, resources are being withdrawn from the Pridnestrovians.”
As for the political aspect of the situation, Moldova’s unilateral, aggressive and peremptory actions are a serious blow to the negotiation process. As Oleg Vasilatiy noted, Moldova is trying to deny that its actions are directed against ordinary people. However, the last rally showed that representatives of the Moldovan leadership have reached into the pockets of almost every resident of Pridnestrovie.
Let us recall that from January 1, 2024, Moldova began to impose customs duties on cargo that belongs to Pridnestrovian economic agents. According to preliminary estimates, Pridnestrovie's budget losses from the blockade measures of the neighboring state will amount to about $16 million. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, about 50 thousand people took part in the protest rally against economic pressure from Moldova, which took place in Tiraspol.
