Results of the meeting of political representatives: No specific solutions yet

Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebryan may negotiate again until the end of the year

Tiraspol - Chisinau, December 2. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Following the results of today's meeting of the political representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova, the Moldovan side expressed its readiness to move forward. However, at the same time, it has not yet been possible to come up with specific solutions to any of the existing problems.

Vitaly Ignatiev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie, told journalists about this. He said that the parties, in particular, discussed in detail the issue of importing medicines to the PMR.

“There are very simple decision models, they are there, they just need to be accepted. The version that was jointly developed by Pridnestrovian and Moldovan experts [this spring - ed. note] needs to be implemented, and this will solve all the problems,” Vitaly Ignatiev said.

“The question here is whether Moldova is ready to meet the people`s aspirations, whether it has the political will for this. There are problems with specific drugs, for example, cancer drugs, which are not available in Moldova either. The drug registration system that exists in the Republic of Moldova is far from perfect, and Moldovan experts themselves admit this. But people should not be hostages of the situation,” the PMR Foreign Minister stressed.

He also said that Pridnestrovie offered to think about the possibility of holding an informal meeting within the framework of the 5 + 2 negotiation format. The Moldovan side supported this idea.

“We already had such a practice of informal meetings in the 5 + 2 format. In this mode, many solutions were discussed and tested, which were then implemented. This is also a normal way to go. I don't want anyone trying to delay solving problems by saying that the 5 + 2 format doesn't work. We believe that it is necessary to look for opportunities for dialogue,” Vitaly Ignatiev added.

According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, he received explanations from the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Oleg Serebryan regarding the recent detentions of representatives of Pridnestrovie at the Chisinau airport.

Vitaly Ignatiev confirmed that in parallel with the negotiations of political representatives, there were consultations with experts in the field of energy. They discussed the gas and energy crisis that has affected the region. “We want the Moldavskaya GRES to agree to the supply of electricity to Moldova on the terms that will suit both the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan sides,” the PMR Foreign Minister noted.

Before the end of this year, another meeting of political representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova may take place. It will take place in Tiraspol.
