Artem Turov: Moldova’s unfriendly actions were rather disconcerting

The Russian Federation State Duma Deputy commented on the Russian journalist’s Semyon Pegov detention at the Chisinau airport

Tiraspol, December 14 /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In Chisinau, the Russian journalist Semyon Pegov, while flying to Moscow that night, was detained and held for more than an hour by Moldova’s Information, and Security Service. The Russian Federation State Duma Deputy from the United Russia party Artyom Turov commented on the incident in his Telegram channel.

The parliamentarian stressed that the journalist filmed storylines connected with the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict history, events, and the Russian peacekeepers’ role in its settlement.

“Additionally to the search and thorough examination of phones, laptop and other equipment, Information, and Security Service officers openly threatened the Russian citizen that they would give him up to the Ukrainian security forces. Semyon, who reacted very dignified to what was happening, of course, was released. However, every unfriendly action in conditions when our country provides unprecedented assistance to Moldova causes bewilderment,” Artem Turov shared.

The Russian State Duma would request the Russian government for information on retaliatory measures against the recent detentions, and Russian public figures’ deportation at the Chisinau airport.

On December 9-10, Russian public figures, human rights activists, and experts were detained at the Chisinau airport and then deported. Among them were Natalia Narochnitskaya, Pavel Pozhigailo, Vladimir Zhuravlev, Alexander Kholodov, Alexander Brod, Evgeny Baklanov, Vladimir Egorov. They were allocated to various events in Moldova and international observers at the presidential elections in Pridnestrovie
