International observers consider the elections held in Pridnestrovie to be free and democratic

The CEC of the PMR provided conclusions on the presidential elections

Tiraspol, December 13. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. International observers consider the past presidential elections in Pridnestrovie free and democratic.

All citizens with an active voting right were allowed to vote without any discrimination. There were no established cases of direct or indirect restrictions on the right to vote. This was said by Richard Burton from Poland.

“Voters, candidates, and the public expressed confidence in the electoral process, which is a confirmation of compliance with electoral standards, an indicator of democratic elections. The principle of transparency and publicity of elections was sufficiently implemented. This allows us to say that they were organized and held in full compliance with the PMR legislation and international standards. The organizers took into account the world experience of conducting election campaigns during a pandemic. There is every reason for the recognition of the voting as free and fair, and the elections as truly democratic,” Richard Burton said.

The heads of the official representations in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Alexander Vataman and Vitaly Yankovsky, said, besides that the elections were free, transparent, and democratic, they acknowledged that the premises that were allocated for voting had been equipped with everything necessary.

In their conclusion, international observers from the Republic of Artsakh - MFA officer Semen Afiyan and representative of the Central Election Commission of Nagorno-Karabakh Araik Lazaryan noted: “There were no significant violations on the day of elections. Comments on the work of election commissions were technical. They were taken into account and eliminated. The CEC has made commendable efforts to conduct these events professionally and credibly.”

Deputies of both chambers of the Russian Parliament, who held meetings with compatriots in Pridnestrovie, also visited polling stations in all cities and regions of the PMR. They noted the high level of organization of the elections, as well as the election commissions` patience and confidence, which testifies to their good preparation.

“We noted the trust, benevolence, and unity of the voters in expressing their political will,” Elena Gorodetskaya, Chairman of the PMR CEC said, recounting the conversation with the Russian parliamentarians.
