Tiraspol, December 12. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, Pridnestrovians are electing their head of state. Representatives of different countries have been invited to monitor the elections in the republic. Yet not all of them were able to arrive in Pridnestrovie.
The previous day, Moldova deported nine citizens of the Russian Federation without giving any reason. Among them are scientists, representatives of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, human rights activists: Natalya Narochnitskaya, Vladimir Zhuravlev, Alexander Kholodov, Alexander Brod, Evgeny Baklanov, Pavel Pozhigailo, Vladimir Egorov, Irina Antonova, according to the website of the PMR Central Election Commission.
Nevertheless, international monitoring of the electoral process will still be carried out. Public figures and government officials, political scientists from Russia, Poland, Nagorno-Karabakh, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia have already arrived in Pridnestrovie.
The Central Election Commission and the leadership of the republic provided all the necessary organizational, technical, and legal conditions for international observers to be able to fully implement their tasks and carry out objective and impartial monitoring.
The previous day, a round table was held in the PMR MFA on the topic of violations of PMR citizens` rights by the Republic of Moldova. The participants in the discussion also addressed the ban on entry to Moldova for several Russian experts, human rights defenders, and public figures who traveled to Pridnestrovie to monitor the voting process at the elections for the President of the PMR. In this regard, Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev noted that it was necessary to prepare a joint statement to the UN Human Rights Committee, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, and the OSCE Secretary-General.
