Tiraspol, December 08 /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Football Club Sheriff from Tiraspol drew with Ukrainian Shakhtar in the sixth round’s match of the UEFA Champions League group stage. The match in Kyiv was ended with a score of 1-1.
The Hirnyky distinguished themselves in the 42nd minute with Fernando Costanza’s efforts. After the break, Shakhtar continued to exert pressure. However, in the end, the Tiraspol team managed to move the game away from their goal a little, and in the last additional minute, they have attacked, with a result of which the substitute Boban Nikolov sent the ball into the hosts’ gateway.
Such a draw allowed Sheriff to score 7 points in D Quartet and confidently finish in third place. Shakhtar remained in the fourth position with 2 points. But the first place in the group was taken by Real Madrid, defeating Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu today (by a score of 2-0). Madrid players won five victories in six matches, losing only to Sheriff in the Champions’ League group stage.
In February of the year 2022, Tiraspol residents are expected to play-off matches for a ticket to the 1/8 finals of the Europa League. The Sheriff’s opponent will be determined by drawing results on 13 December.
