Moldova should be held accountable for violating all agreements on the non-use of blockade action against Pridnestrovie. Konstantin Zatulin, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, told Vzglyad newspaper. Earlier, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry demanded that Russia withdraw the task force from the territory of Pridnestrovie.
“The presence of our troops in the region is connected with the fulfillment of the peacekeeping mission. This is the force that has been keeping the Pridnestrovian conflict from catastrophic development for about 30 years,” Konstantin Zatulin said.
He also noted that the Moldovan Foreign Ministry discredited the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Pridnestrovie and the current peaceful state of relations with its statement.
“Although, in my opinion, those wishing to speculate on this topic should be thankful and grateful for the fact that the conflict, albeit not resolved, but remains extinct,” the deputy added.
In his opinion, the current authorities of Moldova are increasing tension with Pridnestrovie. This is expressed in the restrictions and blockade action that Chisinau is introducing together with Ukraine.
“Moldova should be held accountable for violating all agreements on non-use of blockade action during the negotiation process, restricting entry and creating new difficulties for economic activity in Pridnestrovie,” the source said.
