Moldova demands money from Pridnestrovian transport operators

New details of the Pridnestrovian transport blockade

Tiraspol, October 26 /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian transport blockade, organized by Moldova, became the main theme of the today’s Tiraspol and Chisinau political representatives’ meeting.

The Pridnestrovian passenger-and-freight vehicles participation in the international road traffic wasn’t agreed once again. Moldova is actively ignoring the previously reached agreements putting forward different conditionality, for instance, the necessity to pay taxes to the Moldova’s budget.

“Actually, the Republic of Moldova is purposefully sabotaging the possibility of Pridnestrovian cargo and passenger transport to participate in international road traffic, creating a competitive advantage for Moldovan companies with administrative as well as prohibitive levers,” the Foreign Ministry press release reports.

There’s an item in the Protocol Decision of April 24, 2018 about Tiraspol and Chisinau work on creating a similar mechanism for cargo-passenger vehicles. However, the RM’s representatives are still dragging out such issue discussion in every possible way.

The situation in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement process became aggravated after September 1 of the current year, when Ukraine, at the Moldovan authorities’ suggestion, introduced an embargo on cars with Pridnestrovian license plate numbers entrance. Tiraspol suggested Chisinau to jointly appeal to the Ukrainian side with a request to lift an embargo, however such initiative is rejected by the RM’s political representative, Vladislav Kulminsky emphasized.

At the same time, Chisinau isn’t ready to discuss other problems, for instance, the cargo-passenger vehicles movement from the PMR, which after September 1 was blocked. Pridnestrovie strongly believes that the opportunity to receive neutral license plate numbers will be available for every cargo and passenger vehicle. In response, Chisinau is proposing a selective approach: to give some concessions only for vehicles on certain lists.
