The PMR President talked with representatives of mass media during the events dedicated to the Day of Commemoration of Alexander Nevsky. Answering the question about the role of the Grand Prince in the history of Russia and Pridnestrovie, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted, “Alexander Nevsky is Russia, these are synonyms. The Holy Noble Prince is 800. It would seem that eight centuries have passed, his deeds should have remained in history. But the choice that Alexander Nevsky once made – almost eight centuries ago – is actually relevant today. The choice of the path – West or East, preservation of faith, culture and traditions. Alexander Nevsky for me personally is not just saint, not just a military leader who won many victories and defended great Russia. For me, he is an example of a diplomat who chose the path of preserving Russia in the most difficult conditions (society was also split), its own path of development, abandoned Western values, refused to change the Orthodox faith to the Catholic. Russia today is exactly what it is thanks to Alexander Nevsky. Would he have acted differently, if you had known, there would have been Russia as such? Of course, Russia had many enemies, and Alexander Nevsky being a young man fought them. His feat lives through the centuries, and his choice is the choice, including the present day. I read a lot about Alexander Nevsky. I see the actions of today's politicians and I want to cite the example of the Holy Faithful Alexander Nevsky. Alexander Nevsky is Russia for Pridnestrovie”.
They also during the conversation with journalists mentioned the history of the Bendery church that bears the name of Nevsky. “It was on September 12, 2008, near the ruins of this temple, that the first service was held to celebrate the day of memory of St. Alexander Nevsky, there was a service for the restoration of this temple. I remember then my feelings: how to do it all? You know, man thinks, God disposes. The temple has long been serving and making our people happy by our standards”, Vadim Krasnoselsky shared his memories.
Speaking about coincidences of dates, representatives of the mass media drew attention to a significant event for modern Pridnestrovie: today the campaign for the election of the PMR President has officially started. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky was asked in this context about his future plans. “Yes, today, according to our Constitution, our legislation, the election campaign for the election of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic starts. And today I want to announce my decision – the decision to run for a second presidential term in the elections to be held in December this year. Why did I make this decision? Everything is obvious and transparent. Much has been done. We live according to the Development Strategy of our state. There is still a lot to do for me personally, for the team and for all the people of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”.
