The President honored the memory of the servicemen of the engineer battalion who died 29 years ago

The explosion that cut off 26 lives of servicemen on the territory where the engineer battalion was stationed took place in Parkany closer to midnight on the 21st of June, 1992.

The names of those responsible for what happened that night have not yet been named, just as those who began the war against the peaceful Pridnestrovian people have not been brought to justice, but the memory of the soldiers and officers who did not return from service after that night is faithfully kept by relatives, colleagues, residents of Parkany, leadership and citizens of Pridnestrovie. The memorial sign was erected at the place of the tragedy, where flowers are brought annually on June 21.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky arrived today at the Parkany Memorial of Military Glory to honor the memory of the fallen sapper soldiers.

Memorial lithium was held at the memorial wall.

Addressing the relatives and friends of the departed heroes, their colleagues, active servicemen who continue the work of the deceased defenders, Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that the battalion that suffered irreparable losses was the first division of the Soviet army to come under the jurisdiction of Pridnestrovie. This decision, fateful not only for the unit, but also for the state as a whole, was made a few days before the tragedy. It was this battalion that marked the beginning of the history of the republic's militia. The personnel actively participated in the defense of Pridnestrovie during the armed phase of the Moldovan- Pridnestrovian conflict. 55 servicemen were awarded the medal "Defender of Pridnestrovie" for participation in hostilities, 26 who died in the explosion (4 officers and 22 soldiers) were awarded posthumously. On May 16, 2017, in the year of the 25th anniversary of the transition of the battalion under the jurisdiction of the PMR, it was awarded the honorary title "The 1st Guards Separate Engineer-Sapper Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" of Parkany. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky. Today, the President called this decision a tribute to the heroism of the Parkany sapper warriors, emphasizing that he grieves for every life cut short.
