Vadim Krasnoselsky discussed with Oleg Belyakov the work of the Joint Control Commission and the situation in the Security Zone

Regular meeting of the Joint Control Commission did not take place the day before. The dialogue came to a halt at the stage of the agenda adoption. This has become a common practice in recent times. Another urgent problem, which has taken on the form of a constant, is the non-signing of the reports and final protocols by the Moldovan side. Co-Chairman of the Joint Control Commission from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov told the President that there have already accumulated almost a dozen of them.

Oleg Belyakov noted that the situation that is developing in the activities of the Joint Control Commission and in the Security Zone itself raises some concern today. First of all, this is due to the fact that the Moldovan side, in terms of the work of military observers, in terms of the work of the Joint Military Command and the Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission itself took the path of discrediting the peacekeeping operation, avoiding the basic principles enshrined in the 1992 agreements and previously adopted documents. Oleg Belyakov recalled the protocol prohibiting military observers from not submitting reports to the Joint Military Command and the Joint Control Commission, emphasizing the obligation to inform the commission about everything that was noticed and recorded during inspections in the Security Zone. When assessing the situation the Moldovan side is trying to impose political motives, altering the facts, according to the speaker. Oleg Belyakov drew attention to the fact that the problem did not arise today. The situation was somewhat improved last summer. Then an agreed decision was made on the visit of military observers to objects of various profiles and the obligatory exchange of information. The agreement was respected for a while. Now the mechanism has failed again. “This year we see that the Moldovan side has returned to the path that this information again does not fall into the Joint Control Commission, as a result - to date, thirteen reports of the Joint Military Command have not been signed,” Oleg Belyakov told the President. He said that an attempt made yesterday to discuss this issue had been in vain. The Moldovan delegation flatly refused to include this issue on the agenda of the meeting. Issues related to the division of the Russian battalion from the headquarters of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces and border activities are also acute. “We managed to agree on a list of posts in 2007: 22 each from the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan sides. We record the presence of other posts, discuss how it was with the sanitary and quarantine posts, and in the process, we make appropriate decisions. This did not cause any specific complications. Today, the Moldovan side politicizes this topic, which is unacceptable within the framework of the Joint Control Commission, since our body is obliged to provide only peace, and these issues are not within the competence of the Joint Control Commission”, concluded the speaker.

After detailed discussion of the current situation and proposals for changing it, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the state of affairs is not new: this is not the first time the Moldovan side has practiced discrediting the peacekeeping mission on the banks of the Dniester, making attempts to create a platform for its elimination, negatively affecting the work of such significant institutions as the United the military command and the Joint Control Commission. Vadim Krasnoselsky said that the task of the Pridnestrovian side is not to succumb to provocations and to do everything possible to prevent the Moldovan side from advancing towards discrediting peacekeepers on the territory of Pridnestrovie.

The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic told the words of gratitude and congratulations on the eve of the International Day of the Peacemaker.
