Viktor Skvortsov from Bendery is winner of Grand Slam tournament

Pridnestrovian judo player will compete for the Tokyo Olympics

Tiraspol, May 08. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Grand Slam tournament in the World Series in judo was hosted in Kazan. The bronze medal competitions was won by judo player Viktor Skvortsov from Bendery.

The Pridnestrovian citizen had four fights as part of the Arab Emirates on the Tatneft Arena judo mat. In the struggle for the third place, Skvortsov defeated his Israeli opponent Tohar Butbul. Victor performed in the weight category up to 73 kg, where a real fight for award stand turned around.

“There were about 44 participants in the same weight category. I became the third one and strengthened my position in the world rankings. I still have one more pre-Olympic qualifying tournament, and then, I hope, the Olympics,” Viktor Skvortsov the international master of sport commented on his performance to Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency.

At the moment, the judo player from Bendery has taken the 22nd position in the world ranking. The Olympic Rankings has been constantly changing, that’s why, Viktor Skvortsov in the final qualifying tournament will have to defend his right to participate in the Olympic Games of the 2020.
