Rybnitsa, January 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Moldavian Metallurgical Plant (MMP) continues to modernize production. New equipment is being installed in the section rolling shop - a special-purpose combined roll-turning machine made by the German company Hercules. It is designed for cutting streams on rolling, cast iron and carbide rolls and plates, LikTV reports.
“The equipment that was installed in 1996 is worn out. Our machines are in operation 24 hours a day, and therefore their accuracy left much to be desired. We no longer had those tolerances, the surface roughness required by the standards. The new machine eliminates all these errors,” Vadim Prigonyuk, senior foreman of section rolling shop lathe department of OJSC MMP said.
Control measurements had to be done manually on old equipment, but now this process will be automated, as well as marking. All this will significantly save time.
The roll-turning machine is equipped with numerical control. It allows us to directly contact the manufacturer in case of problems or any questions regarding the operation of the equipment and get assistance of a specialist from Germany online.
Commissioning works will begin next week.
The roll-turning machine was purchased as part of the MMP modernization program. Note that the work to reduce the cost of production does not stop at the enterprise, even during pandemic. Earlier, the plant replaced the hydraulic cylinders on the furnace, and carried out its overhaul alongside.
