Tiraspol, January 16. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. For several years running, the utility services payment for Pridnestrovian population has remained constant. The state pays enterprises a tariff difference (the difference between the population tariffs and economically justified ones) to prevent negative influence the housing and public utilities’ structures. In the previous year, for these purposes from the budget were allocated more than one hundred million rubles.

However, in neighboring Ukraine, prices for housing and public utilities’ services from January 1, 2021 rose again. That’s why its citizens began protesting.

The existing situation with the utility services’ payment was commented on by the PMR Government Chairman Alexander Martynov on the air of the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel.

“People go on the streets with the protests not because the tariffs’ rising, but because they have a low money income, which they are trying to reduce it even more. Maybe from an economic as well as providing funding sources of housing and public utilities services enterprises point of view it’s right. But despite this correctness, to depreciate the already low population’s incomes is wrong from the social point of view,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

In this situation, according to Alexander Martynov, it’s necessary to seek ways, that would have been correct for both sides. The Head of Government explained, that in Pridnestrovie such problem is solved due to the tariff difference’s covering. At the same time, public utilities services enterprises receive the necessary resources and the tariffs’ growth don’t influence on depreciating the citizens’ incomes.

“Many people perceive the tariff difference’s as support tool of public utilities services enterprises. Nothing of the kind. This is strongly pronounced social policy’s tool. The tariff difference is partially paid by the budget for the population. On the one hand, thanks to that money the enterprise is developing, but on the other hand, we keep the inflation down,” Alexander Martynov summed up.
