Tiraspol, December 11. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At the plenary session of the Parliament, the deputies adopted a statement by the Supreme Council on the inadmissibility of escalation the situation in the Security Zone. In their opinion, it’s necessary to take effective measures to unblock the work of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) and the work of the Joint Military Command (JMC), the Supreme Council press service reports.
“The Supreme Council expresses its concern over the escalation of the situation in the Security Zone noting, that tensions that are growing by the day have arisen due to the systematic blocking of the Joint Control Commission work by the Republic of Moldova,” the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov noted.
The day before the plenary session, the relevant commission deputies discussed the process of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement and problems of functioning of the peacekeeping operation in Pridnestrovie.
“Currently, many leaders, officials, diplomats of the Moldovan side have been talking about the necessity of withdrawing the peacekeepers from Pridnestrovie. Deputies undoubtedly anxious about such subject matter. We see, that the situation is exacerbated by the day,” the Deputy Chairwoman of the Supreme Council, the head of the foreign policy and international relations commission Galina Antyufeeva stressed.
The Supreme Council deputies note, that Pridnestrovie sees the possibility of crisis resolution only under the condition of an equal dialogue of the parties without including politically motivated subjects and issues in the peacekeeping agenda.
“The long-term preservation of the existing crisis situation or its escalation can lead to a breakdown of the JCC mechanism of work, the JMC work, and thus of the whole peacekeeping in Pridnestrovie,” the statement of the Supreme Council says.
The Supreme Council believes, that it’s necessary to hold consultations on the problems of the peacekeeping operation’s functioning on the Dniester with Russian colleagues from the State Duma.
“With the purpose of resume the dialogue we are approaching to Russia as a guarantor state. We should do everything to prevent destabilization in our country. Peacekeepers in their turn should continue to carry out their mission. This is the only guarantor of security and peace in Pridnestrovie,” the Vice-Speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament stressed.
The document adopted by the deputies was sent to the participants in the negotiation process of the 5 + 2 format.
