The PMR President continues to receive requests from mass media for comment on the statements of the elected leader of the Moldovan state and the prospects for the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Pridnestrovie.
“First of all, it should be noted that at present there is no talk of any withdrawal of the Operational Group of Russian Forces from the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Such statements by Moldovan politicians are pure speculation. Pridnestrovie proceeds from the assumption that the OGRV and the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation are a single and inseparable mechanism of the legal Russian military presence in Pridnestrovie, which is the basis of stability and security on the Dniester. Russian servicemen in no way violate the territorial integrity of the neighboring state, since they are stationed on the constitutional territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on legal grounds in accordance with the will of the PMR citizens expressed in the 1995 referendum. Due to the unsettled state and legal relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, there is no comprehensive agreement that would exclude the possibility of resuming direct military confrontation. Moldova unilaterally withdrew even from the existing agreements on the interaction of law enforcement agencies of the parties. Today, the Agreement "On the principles of the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict ..." of 1992 is in force between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, in accordance with which a ceasefire regime operates in the Security Zone. Any attempts to destroy the existing peace guarantee mechanism can lead to a rollback of the Moldovan- Pridnestrovian conflict to the de facto situation of the early 90s”, said Vadim Krasnoselsky, answering a question from TASS representative in Moldova Veniamin Demidetsky.
