Tiraspol, October 3 ./Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Republic of Artsakh trade representative in Pridnestrovie Gegham Gevorkyan told the First Pridnestrovian TV channel that a fund to help Artsakh would be created in Pridnestrovie.
"Now we want to open a fund to help Nagorno-Karabakh soldiers. Armenians also raised a certain money amount. No one refused to help our soldiers. Now people from all over the world are raising money for Nagorno-Karabakh to help those who suffered in this war," Gegham Gevorgyan said.
The first clashes along the Nagorno-Karabakh Line of Contact were reported on September 27. The parties switched from local shootings to full-scale hostilities. The NKR Defense Army lost 151 people in six days. Such data are cited in the republic defense department.
The Karabakh conflict began in February 1988, when the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region announced its withdrawal from the Azerbaijan SSR. Azerbaijan lost control of Nagorno-Karabakh and its seven surrounding areas as a result of the armed confrontation 1992-1994.
Since 1992, negotiations have been underway on a peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, led by three co-chairs - Russia, the USA, and France. Azerbaijan insists on maintaining its territorial integrity, Armenia defends the interests of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, as it is not a party to the negotiations.
