Tiraspol, August 4 ./Novosti Pridnestrovya/. State support for livestock farmers continues in the form of subsidies for cow’s milk handed over for industrial processing. According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the PMR agricultural producers get 1 ruble per kilogram of milk with 3.5% base fat content.
In the II quarter of 2020, 41 economic entities applied for subsidies. Every year the number of recipients increases. The total volume of basic fat milk to be subsidized for April-June 2020 year amounted to 2,858,8 tons. The total amount of subsidies amounted to 2,858,8 thousand rubles, which is 28.5% more than in the same period last year.
To date, subsidies for the II quarter of 2020 are fully transferred to the accounts of recipients. The Ministry of Agriculture writes that after two years of work in the dairy industry, taking into account the applied state support measures, it is possible to draw conclusions about their effectiveness. This type of support is aimed, in particular, at stabilizing the number of livestock, stimulating an increase in livestock production.
So, since the introduction of the milk subsidy mechanism (March 2018), there has been an increase in the number of cows in the public sector, as well as an increase in milk production. The number of milking herds in organizations and peasant farms increased from 2,377 heads (January 1, 2017) to 2,832 heads (January 1, 2020). Milk production in the above-mentioned farms increased by 24.3% in 2019 and amounted to 10,377,2 tons against 8,349,3 tons in 2017.
The prevailing unfavorable weather conditions of the current year (prolonged drought, spring frosts) had a negative impact on the production of arable crops, as well as on the volume and quality of animal feed, which led to its increase in price. Farmers need working capital sufficient to feed cows before next year's harvest to fill the food shortage.
Dairy farming is a priority area of the State Program for the Development of the Agricultural Complex of the PMR 2019-2026. State support measures in terms of providing subsidies for milk handed over for processing will continue.
The introduction of quarantine in the territory of Pridnestrovie, as well as in neighboring states, led to a significant decrease in the import of dairy raw materials into the republic. The food security of the PMR is ensured by the production of milk by domestic producers.
