Thomas Mayr-Harting: The issue of Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement is a priority

A meeting of the head of the Pridnestrovian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office is taking place in the PMR Foreign Ministry

Tiraspol, January 23. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A meeting of the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting is being held at the Foreign Ministry of Pridnestrovie.

At the beginning of the conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev noted that Mr. Thomas Mayr-Harting had experience in participating in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement (he has been representing the European Union in the negotiation process on this issue since 2016).

But, the head of the Foreign Ministry noted that since 2016 the negotiation agenda had not changed much, however, new problems had appeared. Speaking about the current situation of relations between Tiraspol and Chisinau, the Foreign Minister emphasized that they were in a stage of degradation.

At the same time, he expressed hope that the OSCE would pay attention to the implementation of previously reached agreements and to prevention of restrictions on the rights of Pridnestrovian residents.

In response, Thomas Mayr-Harting noted that for the current OSCE chairmanship, the issue of Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement was a priority.
