Tiraspol, December 10. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A monument in form of two dandelions appeared in Tiraspol Kirov Park. It is a monument to women who died in the result of family and domestic violence. Dandelions symbolize the fragility of human life.
Today, the Director of Development and Support of Resonance Civil Initiatives Centre, Juliana Abramova, PMR’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ruslan Mova, Human Rights Officer at the US Embassy on Moldova, Robert Ken took part in the opening of the monument, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
“Dandelion symbolizes not only human life, but also the difficult situation of people faced violence in families. In five years – from 2014 to 2018 – two women died from domestic violence in Pridnestrovie,” Juliana Abramova noted.
During the ceremony, it was noted that often women who was subjected to family violence did not want to go to police for help because they considered it was an internal matter of a family.
“It's not common for us to speak about domestic violence. It is the reason for very serious crimes. We must constantly talk about domestic violence. For our part, we will take the initiative to change the legislation, increase the punishment for family violence,” Ruslan Mova said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges the Pridnestrovian to call the police if you become a witness of violence. It is possible that you will save human health or life.
