ATHLETE FROM BENDERY IS WINNER OF EUROPEAN YOUTH OLYMPIC FESTIVAL

Juliana Dabija won the bronze medal in the triple jump

Tiraspol, July, 27. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today in Baku (Azerbaijan) the European Youth Olympic Festival, in which 3.9 thousand athletes from 48 countries participate, is being completed.

The winner of the competition was the Pridnestrovian athlete Juliana Dabija. She took the bronze in the triple jump with the result of 12 m 98 cm. The silver was won by the French athlete, who jumped 10 cm further, while the representative of Sweden took the gold medal.

Note that this is already the second medal for Bendery this season. A month ago, Juliana Dabija won the youth championship of the Balkan countries.

Two more Pridnestrovian athletes were able to overcome the qualifying stage of the festival. Athlete from Bendery Yana Garayeva made it to the final in the barrier race at a distance of 400 m, where she took 7th place. Radio 1 reports that Denis Shvets from Tiraspol competed in the semifinals in swimming on a hundred-meter striker.

The festival was also attended by three more of our athletes: Anna Karamanutsa, Alexey Dobrovolsky and Vladimir Beznosyuk.

In the medal standings of the competition, the Moldavian team is ranked 29th with five awards. The top three are Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
