Tiraspol, April, 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Last week, the Pridnestrovian delegation, which included members of parliament, visited Moscow. Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov spoke about the results of this visit.
Interaction with the State Duma Can Break New Ground
The head of the Pridnestrovian parliament proposed cooperation between relevant committees of the State Duma and the Supreme Council on the basis of memorandums. According to the speaker of the PMR Supreme Council, this idea was supported by all factions of the Russian parliament.
Alexander Korshunov noted that there was also a need to resume the practice of holding parliamentary hearings on Pridnestrovie at the State Duma site.
“There were such hearings held in the mid-1990s and early 2000s, and special resolutions of the lower house of the Russian parliament were adopted following their results. During meetings with Russian legislators - representatives of all Duma factions - I suggested that the Pridnestrovian issue should once again be heard in the walls of the State Duma. We discussed the organization of parliamentary hearings on Pridnestrovie. And I am grateful to my Russian colleagues for the fact that it is being worked out today,” the speaker of the Supreme Soviet said.
Alexander Korshunov believes that cooperation should expand at the regional level of the two countries. One of the most important issues for residents of the republic was discussed in Moscow - the possibility of Russian citizenship adopting through a simplified procedure.
Belgorod Experience is Useful for Pridnestrovie
The head of the Pridnestrovian parliament also visited Belgorod, where he met with the leadership of the region. They talked about the experience of this Russian region in terms of state and municipal government.
“In the Belgorod Oblast, the local government system was reformed. Three different models have been proposed. We started with the implementation of pilot projects in the districts of the region. Yes, in some moments they “bumped their heads”, but found the best option. This experience, taking into account the Pridnestrovian specifics, would be very useful for correcting our legislation regulating the functioning of local governments,” Alexander Korshunov said.
According to him, parliamentarians can take Belgorod developments as a basis in order to improve the legal framework of Pridnestrovie for the development of local government institution. The head of the Supreme Council of the PMR said that inter-parliamentary cooperation between the committees of the Supreme Council and the Belgorod Regional Duma could be a case in point.
Agroindustrial Complex
The development of the agricultural sector, the emergence of new cattle-breeding complexes has led to the fact that the Belgorod region ranks third in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation in terms of milk production.
The policy of sanctions and restrictions on Russia has become the driving force of increasing the production of its own food products, the implementation of the program of import substitution.
“These tasks are as relevant as ever for Pridnestrovie given the similar climatic conditions. It is no coincidence that the Supreme Council recently adopted a strategic document - the state target program for the development of the agro-industrial complex for 2019-2026,” Alexander Korshunov said.
Support for Youth
The head of the Pridnestrovian parliament visited Development Corporation JSC. This regional institute with 100% state capital was formed with the aim of creating optimal conditions for the implementation of investment projects. The main activities are greenhouse production, dairy farming, distributed energy, development of the investment environment, etc.
The strategic direction of the corporation’s work on new tasks has become the popularization, involvement, and support of innovative companies. As part of this, employees of universities and young people are attracted to innovative companies.
“Probably, it is no coincidence that the center is located in one of the leading universities, and its main employees are young people who are characterized by an innovative approach to solving their problems. This is a real intellectual potential of the Belgorod region. The horizon of their strategic planning is 20-30 years. In this, they are also ready to share their experience with us,” Alexander Korshunov said.
They Intend to Increase Trade Turnover Between Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and The Russian Federation
During the meeting in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, information on the export potential of Pridnestrovie and the Belgorod region, the trade turnover, the possibility of its increase was exchanged.
“All these meetings lead to the conclusion: the Russian experience is relevant and useful for us, much can be learned,” the Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council summed up.
