Tiraspol, February, 28. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Why the relations between Russia and the West for centuries develop through numerous conflicts and how it is reflected in the Pridnestrovie situation. The famous Russian political scientist Sergey Mikheyev said about it during the online conference today. Students and teachers of the Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University became participants of the teleconference organized by the Dniester-Prussian Information and Analysis Center.
The West always considered itself the centre of world political, economic, cultural life – it was the beginning of the Russian expert performance. On his belief, this mission self-appropriated by Washington allows to impose the tenor of life and to justify any means in the achievement of the goals, Sergey Mikheyev notes. But repeated attempts to subdue, remake, force Russia to go on the West pointer over and over again crowned failure.
«The Russian statehood contains about one thousand years. During this time many civilizations were simply wiped out. And Russia does not just exist – it plays one of the leading roles on the planet. And now it accurately shows: we are not going to ask the West of permission to the right to live and pursue that policy which we find necessary», - the expert emphasized.
Projecting the relations of Russia and the West on a situation in Pridnestrovie, the political scientist did not exclude that our republic «can become that place where it can try to involve Russia in the conflict once again». «But Russia under no circumstances will never leave Pridnestrovie», - Sergey Mikheyev assured.
«Russia is not going to hand over Pridnestrovie. Especially it should respond to any military provocations. Recent provocation in the Kerch Strait accurately showed that we will not grant the right to play by someone else's rules in our territory. Support of Pridnestrovie is one of the factors of our national interests in this region, and attempt to solve the conflict in a military way will lead to a tough reaction from Russia», - Mikheyev emphasized.
Speaking about the continuing attempts of Moldova authorities to squeeze out the Russian peacekeepers from our republic and to replace them with civil observers under the international mandate, the Russian political scientist reminded events in South Ossetia in 2008.
«Everything began with the execution of the Russian peacekeepers who had the international mandate from the Georgian troops. The Georgian authorities considered what they have right on this. We did not consider so. Everybody knows what it leads for. It was a military victory within 5 days and full recognition of South Ossetia as an independent state. So Russia will not go to a conclusion of peacekeepers», - Sergey Mikheyev concluded.
In total within the joint project of the Pridnestrovian State University and the Dniester-Prussian Information and Analysis Center, there are planned about 8 lectures for various political themes.
