Tiraspol, February, 21. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today in Tiraspol Officers' Club there took place the solemn meeting during which the military personnel of the Operative Group of Russian Forces devoted to the coming Fatherland Defender's Day.
Before the Officers' Club, there was the exhibition of the military equipment and the field kitchen with soldier's porridge and tea. The exposition acquainted with military life and elements of regimentals. Among visitors of the exhibition, there were cadets of the Tiraspol Suvorov Military School. Children even had an opportunity to climb in the patrol car, the armoured personnel carrier or the car UAZ.
At a solemn meeting the first President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, addressing the audience in the hall, could not constrain emotions. With tears in the eyes, he spoke about defenders of the Homeland: «Who passed through it, will understand me. It is very heavy to remember, it is impossible to return those who died. In 1992 we were thrown under a nationalism knife, and Russia – our Homeland – rose in our defence».
A number of the servicemen of OGRF during the solemn meeting got state awards «For active participation in actions for establishment and peacekeeping in Pridnestrovie» according to the presidential decree of Vadim Krasnoselsky. The Chief of the OGRF in the PMR Colonel Dmitry Zelenkov was awarded the medal to «The participant of the peacekeeping operation in Pridnestrovie».
«It is our holiday, we protect the Fatherland. Now we fulfil the duty outside the Russian Federation, in Pridnestrovie, participating in the peacekeeping operation considered around the world the most successful. We are proud of our traditions to put 101 more a year ago», - Dmitry Zelenkov in an interview to journalists noted.
Command of OGRF together with the Ministry of Defence of the PMR prepared a creative gift for the military personnel: the orchestra of the General Staff of the Armed forces of the PMR made the concert program.
Among guests of honour of a holiday, there was also the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, the Adviser to the President of the PMR, the Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Gevlich, the Cochairman of the JCC from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov.
«Today you protect not only boundaries of the Russian Federation, but also ensure safety and stability in Pridnestrovie. Huge gratitude to you for it», - Alexander Gevlich noted.
Especially this day marked out also the veterans who won the Great Victory for future generations.
